A little preparation makes pickup day easier. Use this checklist before collecting your day-old chicks from Bob’s Biddies or meeting one of our delivery hubs.
Before pickup day
- Check your order confirmation for the hatch date, selected pickup location, and instructions.
- Review your hub’s address, day, and pickup window. Allow time to reach the meeting point and identify the listed venue.
- For farm pickup, arrange your appointment before traveling to 2155 Weaver Drive, Ray City, GA 31645.
- Read our pickup and cancellation policies. Contact us promptly if your plans change.
Set up the brooder first
Have a clean brooder, dry pine-shaving bedding, a suitable heat source, a thermometer, a chick feeder, a chick waterer, and appropriate chick starter feed ready before bringing chicks home. Set up and test the equipment in advance.
Measure warmth at chick level and leave room for chicks to move away from the heated area. University of Minnesota Extension recommends 90–95°F for the first week; monitor chick behavior as well as the thermometer. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s installation and clearance instructions.
Plan a direct trip home
Keep the transport container secure and its ventilation openings clear. Avoid unnecessary stops. If you use one of our loaned reusable transport containers, return it at your next scheduled pickup.
When you arrive home
Move chicks into the prepared brooder and show them the water. Provide clean water and an appropriate chick starter feed. Check them frequently as they settle in, and keep feeders, waterers, and bedding clean.
For concerns about illness, injury, or chicks that are not settling, contact a poultry veterinarian or your county Extension office. For questions about your Bob’s Biddies order or pickup, contact the farm.
